The ElderSAFE™ Center is hosting a webinar entitled “Guardianship and Power of Attorney”. The event will be presented by Tina Smith Nelson, Esquire, Managing Attorney with AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) and Catherine Yourougou, Staff Attorney with AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE).

For more than 45 years, the staff of dedicated attorneys and social workers at AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly have been committed to bridging the justice gap for vulnerable D.C. elders. LCE’s mission is to help D.C’s elders live with dignity and the assurance that they are not alone.

AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly helps to prevent evictions and foreclosures; they can obtain Social Security, Medicaid and Veterans benefits due to their clients; advocate for nursing home residents, prepare wills and powers of attorney, and much more.

The program will focus on Decision Making Tools:

  1. Introduction of LCE and its services
  2. Brief Overview of decision-making tools available
  3. Financial Powers of Attorneys
  4. Healthcare Powers of Attorneys and Advance Directives
  5. Guardianships and conservatorships
