Village Voices will return on Monday, September 12, with a presentation on Southern Society after the Civil War: Emancipation and Its Legacy given by University of Maryland Professor Leslie Rowland. Rowland is a historian of the U.S. South and the Civil War and Reconstruction as well as director of the Freedmen and Southern Society Project, which is publishing Freedom: A Documentary History of Emancipation, 1861-1867.
