Our CHV group will meet out front of the Residences at Eastern Market at 8:45 AM which should allow for morning traffic. We will return to D.C. at approximately 1pm.
Tour stops include Building 29, and Buildings 7 and 10. In Building 29, the participants will learn more about space telescopes and will hear more about NASA’s next space telescope project, the Nancy Grace Roman Telescope. There is a model of the Roman spacecraft to view, as well as materials related to the James Webb and Hubble Space Telescopes. Then the tour will move upstairs where visitors can view the Goddard Clean Room, NASA’s largest clean room. From this observation area, visitors will hear more about the process of assembling satellites and should be able to see actual satellite components being worked on by NASA scientists and technicians.
Visitors must wear closed-toe comfortable shoes as there is extensive standing and walking; tennis shoes are recommended. Backpacks, bags, large purses, and briefcases are not permitted in the tour locations.
The per person cost will be $30 which will help to cover the cost of a van rental. No private vehicles are allowed.
