Join CHV’s Director of Care Services and Village Connections program lead for a training on CHV volunteer boundaries.
Making a connection with a member can be an incredibly rewarding experience, and we celebrate volunteers and members forming those meaningful relationships. However, we also believe relationships are made stronger through well-maintained boundaries. Boundaries are what make volunteers different from friends or family. While it is important to be authentic and show compassion, it is also necessary to set appropriate boundaries. When you do not set such boundaries and you are emotionally and physically involved helping an older adult, your risk of burnout is great. During this training, we will discuss establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries, what to do when a boundary is crossed, and how to take care of yourself as a CHV volunteer.
Village Connection volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend; however the training is open to all CHV volunteers.
