Michael Hash: New Threats to the Affordable Care Act
When the Affordable Care Act was signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010 it was called "perhaps the greatest overhaul of the U.S. health-care system" since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965. In May 2019, Michael Hash talked to Village Voices about the implementation of the law. Now, after the drama of recent debates over the extension of ACA premium subsidies, Michael Hash is again going to talk with Village Voices about the status of the ACA and whether we can still call it either affordable or viable.
In 2009, Hash was deputy director of the White House Office for Health Reform and one of the architects of the ACA. He then served as director of the Office of Health Reform at the Department of Health and Human Services from 2011 to 2014 where he played a key role in implementation of the ACA.
