Many of us attended the Metropolitan Opera’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Auditions for years when they were under the guidance of Eleanor Forrer. After the Covid hiatus, the auditions resumed last February as the Laffont Competition and under new leadership. We are lucky that the fairly new Village member, opera lover, and singer Jonathan Saxton, is willing to talk with us about his time on the New England regional audition board and his new membership on the Mid-Atlantic board. He will bring as an additional guest Aundi Marie Moore, chair of the Mid-Atlantic board and an acclaimed soprano. This is your chance to learn what is involved in organizing this competition, which is so important for young singers, and for us to reconnect after a VOS hiatus.
