This month’s book is Colm Toibin's novel Long Island (2024, 304pp).

Colm Toibin's novel Long Island is a sequel to his earlier novel Brooklyn (although you don't have to read Brooklyn to enjoy this book). In Long Island Toibin's Irish main character Eilish has married an Italian American and is living on Long Island.  At the risk of producing a spoiler, it is enough to say that most of the novel takes place in Ireland when Eilish returns to (ostensibly) visit her mother.

The Literary Club has enjoyed several Toibin novels: I don't think this one will be an exception.
