This event has been cancelled. Please join us at a future event.

Our speaker this session is neighbor Brad Kading, retired from policy work on agriculture-related issues, and he has written a book for children, Fozzie’s Great Adoption Day Adventure. Brad says that is goal was to “make people laugh and tell a story about community action to rescue our adorable new dog--the late great Fozzie.” Brad is willing to share his insights and experience with us on staying motivated to write and using voice and description effectively. Also, if anyone is interested in advice about editing, getting and illustrator or publisher, Brad will be able to provide some practical advice. Hope to see you at our hybrid zoom/in-person session.

Hybrid: zoom + in person. If you are willing and able to host the our group at your home or have suggestions for specific topics or speakers, please let us know.  (We can limit the number of in-person attendees and will ask participants to register ahead of time.)

What's Your Story?

Have your children, grandchildren, or other young people in your life ever asked you what it was like when you were growing up? Have you ever thought about writing a memoir or creating an oral history? The Memoirs Affinity Group focuses on creating memoirs. Stories, as told by the people who lived them, reflect a unique piece of history and will be treasured by the storytellers, their families and maybe others for generations to come.

The Group meets on Zoom and sometimes in person to bring together people who are interested in creating a memoir with people who have already done so. The group attempts to create a space where participants can share approaches to getting started, resources for creating memoirs and ways to stay motivated to create memoirs for themselves, family members and others.

Gatherings will include guest speakers and  group discussion on topics such as: getting started, obstacles to revealing memories, writing habits and staying motivated, and major themes and threads creating your story. Come, share your story.
